for everyone
"The idea of this week's theme is that you look around you and snap a photo of something that is Unique to your part of the world. Look at your world through the eyes of those of us in other lands."

This is picture of street vendor selling Arum Manis (similar taste to cotton candy but crispy in texture, served with thin waffer) in Pasar Mayestik, one of my favorite spot in Jakarta (where we reside at the moment). It's a traditional bazaar style market, you can find literally everything in this market. From fresh produce, baking goods, linens, electronics, and many more. Hundreds of street vendors with their little carts lining-up everywhere around the market, trying to sell their goods to potential customer. The cart make it possible for them to move around the area. I love the displays that they all put together, the hustling and bustling of people selling and buying, the varieties of goods available and all different conversations around, such an interesting place.

Picture was taken with my Canon Power Shot G9, December 2007. Click on the picture to get larger image.

PS. Go here fotofriday to participate.

As usual... mine won't be up until 12:05AM or so, Friday, California time. :-)

That looks delicious! Street vendors are common in Mexico, too. Seems like it's easy to get a cart and sell something...not too many restrictions on them, so they do well. Great picture that imparts the "feel" of the public market!

I'm sorry Eunice .. its not my intention to make you miss home, but if you do come over here I'll buy dozens of Arum Manis just for you, its a promise *winks*

Your market sounds a lot like ours, except that our market, they put up a 'fixed' stall every day. Do they shout their wares as well? I want to taste those candies... they sound delicious!

If anybody can find this food in california, please let me know. Thank you.
