We are supporting Miguel who's participating in this event for the first time this morning so we all up early (we went to 2 parties the night before so I'm actually amazed that I'm awake too !) and arrived at ISCI at 6 am.
Its a 5 K run and Miguel did very well, he was all happy and fit .. his training program really showing lots of progress .. go Miki, go !!!
Had a FANTASTIC time in Singapore, was great to go to a familiar place and introducing lots of 'new' experience to Ariel. She was an angel during the flights, a great sport during our endless outdoor walking (and shopping) eat very well (tried Indian food too) and social bubbly girl with our friends and their children, she had a BLAST *smile*
Above pictures are some of our 'favorites' during this short weekend trip, from the clear blue sky (picture taken at Changi airport, 15 minutes after we landed) fast Mono Rail Train (Ariel's favourite part obviously), yummy Food (Chicken Rice, roasted & steamed) and the best CALAMANSI juice in can !!!
More pictures to follow later, must run and do my errands now, I'm sorry if I miss all your wonderful posting on MP but I will catch- up for sure, take care everyone (^_^)
How fast the time goes, 9 days past sooooo quickly (snif).
We sent Ani & Dani first thing in the morning to the airport yesterday (Jan 29th) and I've been dreading myself to uploading all these pictures here since I know I'm gonna be sad (snif). Anyway, hope to see them again in Summer (oh, sooo looking forward to it !!!) and these are some pictures from hundreds that Miguel & I took during the time they are here, like the quotes that we saw in Cimory
Its Daniel's Birthday today .... we are so honored that he's celebrating his special day here in Jakarta with us.
Knocked-on their door at 8 am in this morning, Ariel brought the noise maker (baby tin shaker), I brought the cup-cakes with candles and Miguel in-charge of the video, a little morning surprise for Dani .. he blow his B'day candles with Ariel, open presents and cup-cakes was our breakfast *grin* Unfortunately I deleted all the pictures from my camera, small accident from my side but Ani took some pictures too .. will get the copy from her tomorrow, the cup-cakes picture here were taken last night after I made them. Afterwards Miguel goes to work and we went to Ariel's school.
Lunch was at FJ'L .. Ani & Dani love the food & the ambience while Ariel fast asleep on my lap ... tired after school day. For dinner we took them to a nice Indonesian Restaurant, Lara Djonggrang in Menteng area, one of our favorite in town. They enjoyed it too (lucky us) Miguel has a little surprise during dinner, the staff of the restaurant were approaching our table with a loud Gong singing Happy Birthday and brought the cake, for a moment Ani & Dani was wondering what's going on *smile*
Such a precious moments for all of us (still upset that I don't have the pictures of Dani & Ariel blowing the candles from this morning) not every year we can celebrate his birthday together like this, mostly done via long distance telephone call .. Feliz Cumpleaños, Abu, wishing you all the best.
We are soooooo HAPPY, after counting our sleeps for so many nights, the big day is finally on .. Miguel's parents arriving here safe and sound yesterday afternoon. We're thrill to see how fast Ariel getting close to them and excitedly calling them all the time "Abue, look !!! Abu, look !!!" she play, dance and play some more with them, such a wonderful moments.
Looking forward for 7 more days of togetherness, filled with joy and happiness.
To all our family in Buenos Aires, Vancouver, New Jersey and Bali, wish you were here, miss you all sooo very much.
Saludos desde Jakarta, muchos besos y hablamos pronto.
With a surface of 202 sq.km, Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, is the largest city of the country and one of the most important in South America. Its boundaries are the Rio de la Plata to the east, the Riachuelo to the south and the Avenida Circunvalacion General Paz ring road in the North and West. Its population is about 3 millions in the Metropolitan area and 10 millions if including the Greater Buenos Aires area, a figure that makes it one of the 10 most populated cities on the planet.
It is the most European city of Latin America, a combination of Italian buildings, French parks, Large Spanish houses and together with the magic of tango, turned it into one of the world's most sophisticated metropolis.
For me, our trip to this city is an overwhelming experience, the busy street, the car horns, the beautiful buildings, the large park filled with people, the width of the Avenida 9 de Julio (world's widest avenue), the busy eateries, everything contribute to a sense of chaos but in a nice way... its warm & welcoming, I love every minute when I was there.
Here is compilation of some moments captured in Buenos Aires that is not characterized by area or neighbourhoods, its just us having fun (at BA Zoo, hotel, restaurant, family home and others) that's all that matter.
Enjoy :)
PS. Some pictures contained further information about the shot, just a click away....
Set on the back of the beautiful L' Auberge Hotel, surrounded by rose garden, nothing can beat having your coffee or tea with these classic waffles. Served with fresh cream, or jam or our favorite, dulce de leche, it is to die for. If you like Hot Chocolate like our daughter, their speciality, Submarino is a must try one.
It is a simple yet divine experience, the Chef prepared the waffles on iron cast in front of you, the waitresses were nice ladies that been there many, many years (the one that served us been working there for 36 years), so they've seen many different crowds over the years and the tourist like us :)
Since we are there during spring they only open on a weekend, if you come during summer they open everyday 5 pm - 8 pm.
Miguel told me couple weeks ago that he has a surprise for me for my upcoming B'day and this is IT. Ater hearing his endless story about Argentina (his close knitted family, beautiful places and the GOOD food) I will be breathing the FINE AIR (Buenos Aires) soon :)
Our Arielita will have to endure the long haul flight (Jakarta - KL- Johannesburg - Capetown - Buenos Aires) and return, she is soooo lucky to travel the world at such a young age.
A month ago he told me that he will run the *Terry Fox Run 10K this year, the last time we joined this charity event was 4 years ago when Miguel and I walked the 10K Terry Fox Run in Bali (it was a tough one, the first 2K was on the beach !!).
He was committed and start going to the gym 3 times a week, this morning we met up with some friends there, 7 AM on the dot the run started, off they all go wih smile in their faces. Maureen & I went to the 5K point with the car, got there in time to see Carlos (first) & Miguel, pretty much 20 mins after they went off from the Start line, impressive !
Then we went back to Finish line, waiting for them to arrive, Carlo hit the finish line first (45 mins, cool isn't it) then Miguel followed 15 minutes later. He's in pain (his right knee hurting him a lot) but in a very good spirit, HE MADE IT !!!
PS. *Terrance Stanley "Terry" Fox, CC (July 28, 1958 – June 28, 1981) was a Canadian humanitarian, athlete, and cancer treatment activist. He became famous for the Marathon of Hope, a cross-Canada run to raise money for cancer research, running with one prosthetic leg. He is considered one of Canada's greatest heroes of the 20th century and is celebrated internationally every September as people participate in the Terry Fox Run, the world's largest one-day fund raiser for cancer research.
The second day of Ariel blessing ceremony started very early, by 8 am we're all gathered at Griya Dawan. Everything went smoothly, I didn't have time to take any picture during the ceremony so my younger brother was in-charge of my handycam & my older brother in-charge of my Olympus as as well as his own Pentax ... every moments were captured nicely, thank you Teguh & Adhie :)
There were so many pictures and I choose these ones 'cause I think its covering the whole step by step of the ceremony.
PS. The purpose of the Ceremony is to welcoming Ariel to this world and to be blessed always.
Miguel and I lived in this "Hotel" for over 3 years, we knows every corner of it.. it is a beautiful property, we had lots of memories in it (bitter & sweet), made lots of friends and will always try to stay there for couple of days when we are in Bali to get those beautiful feeling of walking into a familiar place.
Anyway, cut the story short.. enjoy the pictures, it is self explanatory and straight from the memory card, no time for Photoshop :)
