This is a postscript related to my post on PICTURE PERFECT : Curves that got me the cool badge here
On May 29 for the first time ever in my life I made my way to Jatinegara Market, my friend Ingrid and I signed up for Jakarta International Community Centre monthly Gemstone Tour over there.
In our head we're expecting to learn a lot of things about gemstone, precious and semi precious one but little did we know that we were in for a big surprise
First of all, it was super HOT day ... the market is quite big with tin roof and stuffy air (thanks to the chain smoker vendors in it). Our tour guide, Otto, ushered us to one shop and start pointing out on several 'rocks' and told us how beautiful and how original it is .. all of us bought some 'rocks' ( there were 6 ladies in our group). Then he took us to the polisher (bunch of smoking boys) and we have to wait for our rocks to be polished and shine so we can have our gemstone ready for some kind of jewelery later on. He didn't tell us that we have to wait over 3 hours for such a tiny little stone (mine was tear shape Lapis Ladsuli) and we were all starving the moment our 'gemstone' ready. No time to pick a pendant or earing to have it custom made, we're back to Kemang for Indian food (arranged by the organizer) and that was our Gemstone Market Tour day.
Will I go back there again ? Don't think so. Was it interesting ? Yes, I made 4 new friends that day Also during those hot and stuffy waiting period I saw my 'Umbrella' Yup, there were soooo many of them, colorful on a hot sunny day, protecting the vendors and the 'gemstone' from direct heat. I only have my pocket Olympus with me but Mr Golden Sun made all the photos come out perfect, some pictures for you all to enjoy (Valerie and April were haggling the vendor for some magnet on the first 2 photos *grin*)

BIG HUGS from Jakarta, Esti
Hello everyone, its a new month in 2008 with new theme for our monthly cooking and recipe sharing here in Multiply. I am honored to be your Host for the month of April, following the path of the previous month Host, my dearest friend, a beautiful Mom and talented Cook slash Baker, fitrids, who did a splendid job encouraging all of us to make yummy creation using Banana.
So, without further a due here's the theme for April : RED MEAT, which I'd like to emphasize that I'm only referring to Beef, Lamb, Mutton,Veal and Meat Substitute (for vegetarian) as part of our cooking ingredients.
Red meat is high in protein, iron, B vitamins, zinc, choline, and selenium, a mineral implicated in preventing cancer and improving cardiovascular health. Ounce for ounce beef has twice the thiamine and riboflavin, three times the iron, five times the zinc, and seven times the B12 of chicken. Beef also contains conjugated linoleic acid, (CLA), which has inhibited cancer growth in laboratory animals. Half of the fat in beef is monosaturated fat, (like olive oil), which has been hailed as having many health benefits. Less than half of the total fat in beef is saturated fat and one third of it is stearic acid, a particular saturated fat that has no effect on cholesterol. Put it short : Red Meat is a nutritious food that can be salubriously consumed in moderation (Source : Mark Vogel, Food for Thought)
To participate in this event is very easy, cook anything using Red Meat as part of your recipe in the month of April (any recipe is welcome but you can only post one recipe), post it in your blog or recipe page, don't forget to put this month logo and add a link to this page .. voila .. you are done
After you finished posting your creation kindly send email to me ; estifeuermann@mac.com with the following details :
* Name of your recipe * Picture of your creation (maximum 75 X 75 pixel) * Link to your recipe (please remember to set it for EVERYONE) * On Subject of your email please put : MFM # 14 ; your recipe
I'm looking forward to receive all your delicious recipe, feel free to link this page to your blog anytime, ask your friends to participate too ... its gonna be so much FUN !!!!
Don't forget that MFM # 14 start on April 1st and end on the 30th, all posting on those dates are valid (doesn't matter where you are) and I will be waiting for your recipe till the clock struck midnight on Multiply time April 30th, 2008 to do the round-up.
That is all from me, I leave it all to your creative minds now, have fun out there.
Cheers, Esti

| | How fast the time goes, 9 days past sooooo quickly (snif).
We sent Ani & Dani first thing in the morning to the airport yesterday (Jan 29th) and I've been dreading myself to uploading all these pictures here since I know I'm gonna be sad (snif). Anyway, hope to see them again in Summer (oh, sooo looking forward to it !!!) and these are some pictures from hundreds that Miguel & I took during the time they are here, like the quotes that we saw in Cimory
"Memories are Better than Wealth"
Enjoy .... |
We are soooooo HAPPY, after counting our sleeps for so many nights, the big day is finally on .. Miguel's parents arriving here safe and sound yesterday afternoon. We're thrill to see how fast Ariel getting close to them and excitedly calling them all the time "Abue, look !!! Abu, look !!!" she play, dance and play some more with them, such a wonderful moments.
Looking forward for 7 more days of togetherness, filled with joy and happiness.
To all our family in Buenos Aires, Vancouver, New Jersey and Bali, wish you were here, miss you all sooo very much.
Saludos desde Jakarta, muchos besos y hablamos pronto.

Howdy! Last Saturday (Jan 4th) was Ariel first day back to Gymboree™ after 2 weeks holiday ( equal to 4 missing classes), she has a GREAT time ! This is the first music class that she's participating on her own, she just do & follows whatever activity instructed by her teachers. Its amazing how much confidence she gained by now, she was all bubbly and happy to be there .. Mami soooo proud of you sweetie. Some pictures that I took during the class (well, she doesn't sit on my lap anymore so I better do something useful .. hehe)
All the best for the New Year 2008. Warm regards from Jakarta, Esti, Miguel and Ariel (^_^)
Welcome to my kitchen, this is where you will find me most of the time this week 'till the day before Christmas Eve. No, I'm not selling any of these cookies, they are home-made gifts for family and friends .. a FESTIVE treat for the holidays. Picture taken with my Canon PowerShot G9 (Santa come early this year for me, thanks a million Miki !) Just finished baking my last batch of Meringue an hour ago, cookies anyone ? PS. Picture Perfect theme for this week is F E S T I V E click to participate. (^_^)
After baking cupcakes for Ariel's B'day (a big success.. thank God) nowadays I love playing with the icing decoration, I made it simple and homey but (hopefully) still cute ... "The kind that my mom used to make " my friend Kuniko said. Since most of you are far away from us I can't send you any of these tiny treasure but here's the recipe for a yummy classic edible buttercream : 1 part of white butter 1 part of unsalted butter 1 part condensed milk (add more if you wish) colouring (optional) Beat in medium speed for 3 - 4 minutes, voila ready to go :) Last night I baked 3 dozens basic cup-cakes and here is the result ... This box goes to Diana, Miguel's Secretary for a (belated) B'day present Close-up look... btw, Yellow is for friendship (her b'day was 26 Nov) This box goes to Miguel, today is a special day for him at work (luv you babe !!) This one goes to Febe, she's hosting our bi-weekly coffee morning today. Now I'm ready for a good weekend !!! (^_^)
 | ONE | Nov 28, '07 10:03 PM for everyone |
Set on the back of the beautiful L' Auberge Hotel, surrounded by rose garden, nothing can beat having your coffee or tea with these classic waffles. Served with fresh cream, or jam or our favorite, dulce de leche, it is to die for. If you like Hot Chocolate like our daughter, their speciality, Submarino is a must try one. It is a simple yet divine experience, the Chef prepared the waffles on iron cast in front of you, the waitresses were nice ladies that been there many, many years (the one that served us been working there for 36 years), so they've seen many different crowds over the years and the tourist like us :) Since we are there during spring they only open on a weekend, if you come during summer they open everyday 5 pm - 8 pm. Highly recommended, good value for money. More pictures as follows Rose garden Submarino The View inside Waffles in the making Yummy Waffles Add dulche de leche Happy Faces (^_^)
